Sarah and Goofy Go to Bourbonnais, IL

Goofy made a trip to Bourbonnais, IL with Sarah over Fall Break. He spent a day visiting the Kankakee River State Park. Photographed above is a picture of him on a bridge over top of the Kankakee River while walking on the trails. The land used for the Kankakee River State Park once was part of the land of the Miami and Illini indian tribes, then the Potawatomi Indians lost the land to the United States after the Black Hawk War in 1832. In 1938, a woman in possession of the land named Ethel Sturges Drummer donated the 35 acres of land to create a state park. Commonwealth Edison gave an addition 1,715 acres in 1956, which was used to create the Kankakee River State Park that resides on the land today.
Here, Goofy is seen with Sarah getting ready to make his way home by taking the Amtrak. He first makes a stop at the historical Kankakee train station in downtown Kankakee, IL. This train station was first created in 1898 as a Central Illinois Railroad depot. It reduced the transit time from Kankakee to Chicago, IL from a six day wagon ride to a three hour train ride! It has also seen celebrities such as Frank Lloyd Wright come through it.

Pluto's round trip was 558 miles from Carbondale to Bourbonnais, IL and back. This brings his total miles traveled to 1,094 miles.
